Ears To The Ground

The following 4 works are some pieces completed in Tasmania on a recent trip i did.

I went to Tasmania to study with a mentor by the name of Chris Bennett, he is a photo realistic oil painter. The idea for me at the moment is to learn new ways of working and develop my process further, by experimenting in oils and observing the practice of an artist whose approach contradicts that of my own.

Chris is methodical and patient, calculated in his technique…  my polar opposite. The trip was inspiring in so many ways, and i feel rejuvenated and ready to start a new body of work.

I was staying on a mountain just out of Hobart submerged in clouds half the time and taking walks in the rain-forest each day. I found a mossy tree stump that over looked the valley and this became my place for meditation.. in search of a way to develop my work further and break through the wall i feel i had hit.

Thanks for the help Chris and Eva, it was an amazing experience!
